Avodah is a Hebrew word used in the Bible whose root has three distinct yet intertwined meanings: work, worship, and service. The meanings of this ancient word offer powerful wisdom for modern times. The Avodah Institute was founded in 1999 with the mission to “help leaders integrate the claims of their faith with the demands of their work.”

This mission is underpinned by the belief that God can and should be a central part of every sphere of life, including business. The Institute will help people discover meaning, significance, and spirituality in their work lives. We aim to equip and encourage people to reframe, integrate, and apply their faith in practical and effective ways to meet the challenges and opportunities of the business world.

Please note that much of the original work of the Avodah Institute is now carried out through the Princeton Faith and Work Initiative.
