Bridge
the Gap
The
Avodah Institute offers a multifaceted response in order to
bridge the gap. The aim is to make a significant difference
not only in an individual's life, but also in the lives of
others who work with and work for them, as well as ultimately
affecting society as a whole. The primary focus is to equip
and encourage leaders to:
- translate
faith from intellectual understanding
into action, in work and all spheres of life,
- integrate
faith into the challenges and
opportunities of the workplace in practical and effective
ways, where faith becomes a source of ethical guidance to
steer individual and group behavior,
- employ
faith as a source of spiritual
nurture to discover meaning, purpose, and significance in
successes and failures at work, where faith teaches the
responsibility to treat people as the subject of work, not
the object of work,
- live
out faith in word and deed, as
a follower of the One who is worthy of worship.
In
general, Avodah's responses are grounded in practical realities,
yet informed by theoretical reflection and multidisciplinary
thinking as it includes a wide-ranging number of topics, means,
and participants.
- The
topics we engage include both
business and spiritual dimensions, such as: leadership,
competition, compartmentalization, balance, family, ethics,
profits, compensation, termination, decision making, service,
relationships, counseling, global responsibility, stewardship,
calling, and prayer.
- The
means through which these topics
are addressed include creative ways of putting thought into
action, such as: seminars, retreats, colloquia, this web-site,
corporate consulting, church or synagogue consulting, individual
counseling, mentoring, instruction, articulate dialogue,
lectures, research, and publications.
- The
participants in these initiatives
are all who seek to integrate faith and work, including
leaders, business executives, academics, clergy, and students.
Participation may be as individuals or as an institution.
The Institute operates from the perspective of the Christian
tradition but welcomes those from other backgrounds.
The
Avodah Institute's overall approach is threefold. First, it
generates its own projects and initiatives. Second, the Institute,
rather than competing with other organizations, cooperates
strategically with them where the synergy can lead to exponential
benefit for all involved. Third, the Institute acts as a bridge,
creating an international network between various individuals
and organizations, helping to facilitate the sharing of ideas,
resources, mutual nurturance, and support.
- What
is the reason to
bridge the gap?
The reason is God.
